Daisy Roman was born in Budapest, Hungary, one year after the end of World War II, to Jewish survivors. She stayed true to her roots, keeping childhood friendships for a lifetime, supporting her family in Budapest, and delighting all with stories she told in her distinguished accent.

In 1966, Daisy moved to Oakland, California, where she worked as a colorist for a paint company, which sent her to study color-mixing technology at Princeton University. Later, she worked as a commercial photographer and printing broker. While most knew Daisy for her elegant style and beauty, those close to her loved Daisy for her loyalty, generosity, and common sense. Friend’s enjoyed her famous Hungarian cooking and lively conversation. Daisy’s dear companions, Millie the Cat and Jeffy the Dog, always stayed close to her heart.

In 2006, Daisy married San Francisco businessman, Joel Rossman. She took great pride in renovating their Victorian home, bringing it new life. Daisy continued to host dinner parties there, and entertained visitors at her Budapest apartment. Daisy loved nothing more than to drink tea with a pinch of Suto rum, eat Hungarian sausage, and advise her son, Jacob, a local attorney, on every subject.

A private memorial and celebration of Daisy’s life will be held on April 14, 2018 at her San Francisco home.
