The Sharks don’t anticipate any lineup changes for Saturday’s Game 2 of their Western Conference first-round series with Anaheim, and they’re bracing for a pushback from the Ducks following Thursday night’s 3-0 victory in the firstround playoff opener.

“It’s one game, and we know they’re going to be better,” Sharks coach Peter DeBoer said Friday. “We’re not making more of it than it was. It was a good effort, a good road win and a good way to start the series. But we’re going to have to be better to win another game.”

San Jose’s Game 1 win snapped the seven-game home winning streak Anaheim enjoyed to conclude the regular season. The visitors out-shot the hosts 34-25, went 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and converted a 5-on-3 power play to score the first of three goals in an 8:08 span of the second period.

In other words, the Sharks played pretty much the perfect game.

“I thought we played fast last night,” DeBoer said. “Are we faster than them? I don’t think one game tells you that. I liked our team speed, I liked how we played. And we have to continue to do that.

“I thought everyone was good; we got solid contributions from everyone across the board whether you played eight minutes or whether you played 22-24. I liked everybody.”

The Ducks, who finished a point ahead of the Sharks in the Pacific Division standings, won’t panic. Anaheim, in the playoffs for a sixth straight season, reached the West finals in two of the previous three postseasons.

“They’re going to be much better,” Sharks forward Timo Meier said. “We need to prepare the way we did for Game 1, but take it up a notch.”
