Richard Andrew Jyrinki

October 13 1926 - March 26 2018

-

Richard, 91, passed away at home with his loving family and caregiver Frances at his side. He was lovingly married to Carol Patricia Jyrinki for 57 years before her passing on August 11, 2004. Together they had three daughters, Linda, Suzanne, and Cynthia and a son Richard who passed August 23, 2017.

Richard was born in Oakland, CA to Ernest and Josephine Jyrinki along with his twin brother Raymond (who passed at age 18). In his youth, he attended Oakland High School. After graduation he joined the Navy, then attended Saint Mary’s College. He was the hardest worker we knew, many years working two jobs. His last job was Northern California District Manager for Thomas’. In honor of his hard work, his coworkers gifted him and Carol a trip to Hawaii.

He took such genuine pride in caring for his family and those around him in need. He was a father figure to many and everyone was welcome in their home. One of Richard’s greatest joys was making people laugh, with such a quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed coaching baseball and retained the nickname “coach” for all his years. He enjoyed making friends, watching sports, playing golf, working on his houses, testing his luck at the casino, and had a special place in his heart for watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Richard will forever be greatly loved and missed. He is survived by daughters Linda Beatty, Suzanne Guffy (David), and Cynthia Martin (George). Brothers-in-law Harold and Art Zimmer, Sister-in-law Dorothy Hyde and niece Nathell. Grandchildren James, Jessica, Casey, Molliee, William, Emmye, Jenna, Wyatt, Spencer, and Jillian. Great Grandchildren River, True, Maysie, Arielle, Graham, and Jovie. Extended families the Martin’s, Henderson’s, Lipnosky’s, Kelly’s, and many more.

Thank you Daddy, Papa, Great Papa for all your love and laughter.

Memorial and Burial will be held on April 19, 2018 at 12:00pm at Sunset View Cemetery in El Cerrito. Family requests donations be made to your favorite charity. Sunset View Mortuary (510) 525-5111
