Robert Lennon Burd

Bob Burd of Corte Madera, CA passed away on 3/31/18. He was born in Oakland to Pat and John Burd (both deceased) and was raised in Berkeley. Bob graduated from UCSB and was an officer in the Army, serving in Vietnam. Bob returned to San Francisco where he met his wife, Liz. They were married in 1969 moved to Marin in 1970 and had twin sons, Kevin and Brian in 1974. Bob passed his CPA exam in 1970 and spent the rest of his working career dealing with numbers, which he loved.

Bob enjoyed sports. 49er season ticket holder for over 40 years, in fact the year his sons were born he added two tickets for them. He also loved the Giants and was ecstatic when they won the World Series; his name is on a brick in Willie Mays Plaza. He also enjoyed car races and his Acura NSX was his pride and joy. He and Liz have long been members of Holy Innocents Episcopal Church and served or volunteere­d in many positions over the years.

Bob (who was a fourth generation Northern California­n) spent the last years struggling with the slow decline of Alzheimers. The family deeply appreciate­s and is grateful to the excellent caretakers that made his journey to the end comfortabl­e.

Bob leaves behind his wife Liz, and sons Brian (Heather) and Kevin, his brother Mike, wife Janet, and their children Sarah, Andy, Peter and Katherine, his brother Dan, wife Ann, and their daughter Emma. He also leaves behind many friends and associates. He was a gentleman and a scholar.

A memorial service will be held on May 5th at 11am at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Corte Madera, CA. A reception will follow the service in the parish hall.
