Born in Powell River, British Columbia, Canada on June 15, 1929, he lived a life full of activity and meaningful work. He immigrated to the Bay Area from Canada with his young family in 1960, afflicted with myasthenia gravis, and through the loving care of local doctors recovered to start a variety of businesses in the Bay Area; a series of successful go kart rental tracks, then an auto body shop, a lighting business, and in later years a medical billing company.

He participated in the California Mille vintage driving tour of northern California three times. He was also passionate about animals and for many years an active trail rider on his horse Sammy.
