Josephine Cendali

-

Josephine Cendali, aged 97, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Josephine was born on September 9, 1920, the daughter of Sam and Mary Silvestri and sister of Frank and Dorothy.

Josephine was a native San Franciscan who was active in numerous social organizations over the years, enjoying the company of her many friends and extended family. Her home was often the setting for family gatherings and celebrations spanning three generations and several decades. Her spirit and energy were contagious and inspiring, even in her latter years.

On October 5, 1941, Josephine married the love of her life, Amos, and in 1945 they welcomed their daughter, Darlene to the world. After Amos’ passing in 1987, Josephine remained active and vivacious up to her last days, with a busier social calendar than most people half her age.

Josephine’s greatest joy was her family, and not a day would go by without her checking in with her daughter and grandchildren, often just to say “hello,” or “I love you.” She was a source of strength, joy, and support for everybody whose lives she touched.

Josephine is survived by her daughter, Darlene Voto, her grandchildren, Christian Meyer and Shannon Meyer, her niece Karen Lucia, her great-granddaughter Megan Carlson, and her daughter-in-law Vicki Meyer.

Friends may visit Thursday, April 26 after 4:00pm and are invited to attend the Vigil Thursday 7:30pm at DUGGAN’S SERRA MORTUARY, Daly City and a Funeral Mass the following day at 10:30am at St. Dunstan Catholic Church in Millbrae. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
