Two men were arrested and charged with accessory to murder Wednesday for allegedly helping their friend dump his car after he fatally stabbed a 19-year-old man in Sebastopol before fleeing, authorities said.

Joshua Cassidy, 21, and Shyzaha Thorpe, 20, both of Santa Rosa, were taken into custody and booked into Sonoma County Jail, where they are being held without bail.

Sebastopol police initially reported that a fight broke out Saturday afternoon after a house party, where Anthony Ibach, 18, allegedly stabbed 19-yearold Cory Vaughn to death before fleeing the scene in his burgundy BMW sedan. Officers responded to reports of the stabbing at a parking lot on Bodega Avenue near West Hills Circle, near the house party, around 12:30 p.m.

A witness was performing CPR on Vaughn when officers arrived, but he was declared dead at the scene, police said.

Investigators asked for the public’s help in finding the BMW, and since that time they learned Ibach drove it to Cassidy’s home on the 1500 block of Ludwig Avenue in Santa Rosa. Cassidy and Thorpe then drove Ibach to another friend’s home in San Rafael using Thorpe’s car, police said, leaving the BMW at Cassidy’s house.

The two later realized their friend was a murder suspect after seeing his name in news reports about the stabbing, authorities said. The next day, they reportedly drove back to Cassidy’s house and moved the BMW to Yuba Drive, where it was abandoned.

A person who saw the vehicle description shared on police social media accounts told police that he had seen the car in west Santa Rosa, authorities said. Police said a search of the vehicle and Cassidy’s home turned up evidence connected to the stabbing.

Cassidy and Thorpe are scheduled to appear in court at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
