Charlene Devine Duncan

Charlene Devine Duncan passed away on Tuesday April 24th at the age of 86. She had been ill for several months and is now at peace. Charlene was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1931. Charlene and her younger brother Jim were raised in Winnetka, Illinois by their beloved parents Claire and Charles Devine. Charlene graduated from New Trier High School, received her undergradu­ate degree in Psychology from Scripps College in Claremont, California and earned a master of foreign trade from ASU’s Thunderbir­d School. After college, Charlene briefly lived and worked in San Francisco where she made many lifelong friends. Charlene returned to Southern California, married and later divorced, Will C. Duncan (deceased) and lived in Pasadena, California for most of her life. Charlene raised four children and had a successful career as a nursing home administra­tor in Southern California for more than 20 years. In 2004, Charlene relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area to be closer to her family. Charlene had four children who were her pride and joy, Claire Duncan Trombadore (Tom), Will Cunningham Duncan III (Christine), Charles Thornbury Duncan (Lisa), and Laurie Cunningham Duncan (deceased). Charlene loved going out to lunch or dinner with her family and spending time with her seven grandchild­ren. Charlene loved to travel and later in her life enjoyed cruises to Tahiti, Alaska, Hawaii and the Caribbean. Charlene was a resident of the Rossmoor retirement community and took great pleasure in participat­ing in excursions to the symphony, theater, and trips to Monterey and Carmel. Charlene is survived by her brother Jim Devine (Amanda) of Seattle, her three surviving children and seven beloved grandchild­ren.
