Other luxury sedans
Infiniti Q70
MSRP: $51,095
As luxury flagships go, the Q70 is stylish and quite voluptuous, but good looks and a fetching interior aren’t enough to steal the spotlight from fresher foes. A 330-hp 3.7liter V-6 or even more potent 420-hp 5.6-liter V-8 powers the rear wheels through a seven-speed automatic. All-wheel drive is optional. A hybrid model pairs a 3.5-liter V-6 with an electric motor for 360 hp and a stretched Q70L model adds 5.9 inches of rear leg room and extra luxury features for rear-seat passengers.
Mercedes-AMG E43
MSRP: $72,595
This autobahn burner is poised to light up a freeway near you, packing a 396-hp twinturbo 3.0-liter V-6 and a 10Best Cars award. A nine-speed automatic sends power to the road via all-wheel drive. We recorded a 0-to-60 time of 4.2 seconds and hit 130 mph in 19.2 seconds. The interior has sport seats and red stitching throughout. An air suspension imbues the ride and handling with the right mix of sport and comfort. A new 429-hp E53 variant will launch as a coupe and convertible in late 2018.
Jaguar XF
MSRP: $48,770
With a lithe chassis and muscular powertrains, the XF combines graceful moves with a powerful punch. A 247-hp turbo 2.0-liter inline-four is the base engine; a 180-hp 2.0liter inline-four diesel or a 340- or 380-hp supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 are optional. An eight-speed automatic pairs with rear- or all-wheel drive, and available options can nearly double the base price. With a roomy back seat and trunk, obedient steering, and competent handling, the XF offers luxury in a very British way.
Genesis G80
MSRP: $42,745
For those seeking value and a change from established luxury brands, the G80 is a compelling choice. Three engines are offered: a 311-hp 3.8-liter V-6, a 365-hp twinturbo 3.3-liter V-6, and a 420-hp 5.0-liter V-8. Rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard; all-wheel drive is optional. A long list of standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, navigation, automated emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
