Sister Patricia Anne Cloherty, PBVM, ( baptismal name Mary Dolores) entered eternal life on May 12, 2018 at the Presentati­on Motherhous­e in San Francisco. A native of San Francisco, California, Sister Patricia Anne was born in 1932, and was a Sister of the Presentati­on for sixtynine years. She was the loving daughter of Bridget ( Bridie) and Patrick Cloherty and sister of Rev. John Cloherty who predecease­d her. She now leaves her sister, Nora Kelly, her brother Patrick Cloherty, and their spouses, nieces, nephews and families, as well as her loving Presentati­on Sisters and Associates.

Preparing her for her future ministries, she earned a B. A. in education from the University of San Francisco, an M. A. in religious studies from Immaculate Heart College, Los Angeles, and completed requiremen­ts for credential­s in elementary education and administra­tion.

For the first thirty- four years of her religious life, she ministered in elementary education and was known as an excellent teacher and/ or principal at schools in San Francisco- St. Elizabeth and St. Anne 1952- 53, Epiphany 1974- 85; Montebello- St. Benedict 1953- 54, 1962- 70, Los Angeles- Our Lady of Lourdes 1954- 57; BerkeleySt. Joseph 1957- 1958; San Jose- St. Christophe­r 197074; and Pecos, New MexicoSt. Anthony 1958- 1962.

After a year on the Staff of Presentati­on Center, Los Gatos, Sister Patricia Anne was elected to Congregati­onal leadership as a Council member from 1986- 1994. She was re- elected as a Council member in 2004 and served another six years in that role.

Between terms on the Leadership Council, she served as Director of Religious Instructio­n for Epiphany Parish, San Francisco, from 1994 to 2002.

Always known as willing to be of service and to act with a listening heart, the following years found her in various administra­tive roles at the Presentati­on Motherhous­e.

A vigil service will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2: 00 pm at the Presentati­on Motherhous­e, 2340 Turk Boulevard, San Francisco. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 11: 00 am, also at the Presentati­on Motherhous­e, followed by Interment Prayers at the Chapel area of Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
