Warriors swingman Andre Iguodala is doubtful for Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night against Cleveland with a left lateral leg contusion/bone bruise.

“He’s (at the team facility) today,” Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said on a teleconference Friday afternoon. “He’s done some work. He’s feeling a little bit better, but I would probably call him doubtful for Game 2. We’ll see how it goes.”

Iguodala’s absence has been a significant blow to a team chasing its third NBA title in four years. In addition to being a steadying force for the Warriors’ offense, he is the team’s best defensive option on LeBron James.

Without Iguodala in Game 1 on Thursday, Golden State had little answer for James, who had 51 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in 48 minutes. Each of the Warriors’ defensive options for James — Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Kevon Looney, among others — had a tough time staying in front of him.

James repeatedly drove to the rim untouched, needing only 32 shots to become the first losing player in Finals history to score at least 50 points in a game. Kerr wasn’t pleased with Golden State’s defensive effort on James and has considered adjusting the team’s approach for Game 2.

It helps that Klay Thompson, one of the team’s best two-way players, is expected to be available Sunday after sustaining a left lateral leg contusion in Game 1.

“I’m sore, but it’s nothing too bad,” Thompson said. “It’s less sore than it was last night, so that’s a great sign. I expect it to heal up even more by tonight, hopefully.”
