Dale Anthony Goudeau
January 2, 1933 - May 14, 2018
Dale Anthony Goudeau, born 1933 in Cottonport, Louisiana, passed away peacefully after a long illness in San Francisco, California, his home. He was 85 years old.
Dale was a Member of the graduating Class of 1950 at Cottonport High School and achieved his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Physics at Southwestern Louisiana Institute, at Lafayette, Louisiana.
He was a Veteran, having served Honorably in the United States Air Force/Air Weather Service.
After receiving his Master’s degree in Meteorology at St. Louis University, he joined the U.S. Weather Bureau, now National Weather Service, as Forecaster, then Lead Forecaster, later becoming Deputy Meteorologist in Charge with the National Weather Service at Redwood City, California. He was an exemplary scholar and, following retirement, remained active in the field until his last days.
Dale was kind. He was generous to many charitable organizations both locally and nationally throughout his lifetime. Having no particular religious affiliation or preference, he was ecumenical or “interfaith” in every way and was, simply, a good person.
He is preceded in death by innumerable friends and family members, is survived by his dear sister, June, numerous nieces and nephews, having many close friends in both The City and around the globe.
He enjoyed the daily Crossword, political humor, films of varying genre, and documentaries pertaining especially to Space, the Sciences and Technology. His sense of humor was keen, and super-sharp until his last days, and was a distinct highlight of sharing his company.
Dale Anthony Goudeau is sorely missed, and will be long-remembered for his honesty, and candor, in all matters. He was genuine: unapologetically authentic at all times. His absence now is poignant.
We love you, Dale.
