Charles Richard Chapin, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away peacefully on May 30. He was a kind, funny, loving man who is greatly missed.

Born in Michigan, Charles made his way out west to San Francisco in the early ‘50s. He joined Transpacific Transportation in 1954 where he worked his way up to Vice President, General Manager. Charles retired in 1990 and enjoyed traveling with his wife Nancy in their motorhome and abroad. He excelled at woodworking and his family were the recipients of many beautiful keepsakes. Charles also enjoyed working with the public as a volunteer with the California Highway Patrol.

Charles leaves behind the love of his life, Nancy, their daughters Elena BottariSmith (Darol Smith) and Sandy Pockalny (Creighton), grandchildren Brian Bottari (Chelsea Stoner), Samantha Bottari, Michael Bottari, Jared Pockalny and Megan Pockalny, and great-grandchildren Jack Bottari and Madeline Bottari.

Charles had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, although the only way to confirm the diagnosis is through brain donation. Charles made the generous decision to donate his brain tissue for research so that causes, treatments, and a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease might be found.

A private celebration of Charles’ life is planned in one of his favorite fishing spots, Burney Falls. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Charles Chapin to the Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264, Menlo Park, CA 94026 (www.brainsupportnetwork. org) or to the charity of your choice.
