Heroic pursuit for justice
Regarding “Dying man’s case over Monsanto’s herbicide begins” ( July 10): Thank you Peter Fimrite and The Chronicle for reporting on the heroic Dewayne Johnson’s lawsuit against Monsanto for its product Roundup. Emerging science shows Roundup’s main ingredient, glyphosate, can trigger cancer. Johnson’s last few months, as he dies of the disease, are being spent holding Monsanto accountable. We depend on journalists now to shine light on these dark secrets born of products allowed on the marketplace without adequate scientific review for health and environmental safety. Johnson is not alone. Farmers in Texas and other places who used this Monsanto product are fighting cancer, too. I applaud the heroism of Johnson for taking the fight on while dying and I applaud Fimrite and The Chronicle for letting us all know about it. Thank you! Stephenie Hendricks, San Anselmo
