LGBTQ struggles
Thanks for including “Hollywood heartthrob later admired as ‘gay icon’ ” ( July 10), a remembrance of actor Tab Hunter, in your news pages. As someone who has been openly gay for 20 years, I can only imagine the struggles the closeted Hunter must have endured while being marketed as a sex symbol in 1950s Hollywood. I’m glad he was able to reveal his sexuality later in life, and live more authentically. Now the LGBTQ community must remain vigilant as the current administration in Washington, D.C., seeks to undermine the advancements it has achieved during Hunter’s lifetime. We don’t seek special rights, just equal rights.
