Cover other venues

Regarding “SFJazz hits high note on 5th anniversary” (July 8): Although the SFJazz Center certainly has achieved great things, Sam Whiting’s statement “SFJazz is about all that’s left, and maybe all that’s needed” is a serious insult to the many venues and organizations that continue against great odds to promote the numerous and deeply talented musicians and composers who reside in the Bay Area (and at affordable prices for the public). An apology in the form of more coverage of these musicians and venues would be most appropriate.
