Tim Tebow

The two-time national champion and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner will be inducted into Florida’s ring of honor, becoming the sixth player to receive the honor. Tebow will be recognized during the LSU-Florida game Oct. 6. Tebow, now a minor-league baseball player in the New York Mets’ system, joins linebacker Wilber Marshall, running back Emmitt Smith, 1966 Heisman-winning quarterback and longtime head coach Steve Spurrier, 1996 Heisman-winning QB Danny Wuerffel and defensive end Jack Youngblood. “I know in my heart that I truly couldn’t have done it without amazing coaches and teammates who loved and sacrificed for each other so that we could accomplish our goals,” Tebow said.

Jill Ellis

The U.S. women’s national soccer team coach said female players have an equal right to have FIFA use video review for their tournament next year in France. FIFA is using Video Assistant Referees for the men’s World Cup for the first time this year, and it has led to several key call reversals and an increase in penalty kicks. “I can’t see them not having it. I think it would be a little bit insulting if we weren’t afforded the same opportunity,” said Ellis, who coached the Americans to the 2015 Women’s World Cup title, beating Japan 5-2. “There’s too much at stake to not have it, and I think our game, our passion, our drive, our motivation is at the same level as the men.”
