Juanita Eggers Eckert, known to all as “Swanee”, was born in San Francisco CA on March 4,1923 and resided in Burlingame until her death on July 31, 2018 at 95 years of age. She was educated in schools in San Francisco and graduated from Lick-Wilmerding-Lux high school where she met her husband, Bill Eckert. They had four daughters and lived in Burlingame. Her children were students in Our Lady of Angels Elementary School where Swanee was involved in the Mothers Club. Her creative sewing skills yielded many couturelik­e outfits for her daughters. An active parent in her daughters’ lives, she was a Girl Scout leader for many years. After the death of her beloved Bill in 1971, Swanee was employed at the Western States Meat Associatio­n. There she planned and carried out multiple region wide convention­s and seminars. She was on the board of directors for Lick Wilmerding High School for 5 years. During the last five years, she took up painting returning to the creative outlet she had as a young adult. Swanee is survived by her four daughters and their spouses: Robbie Jackson, Geri Eckert, Cris Seid (John) and Loretta Mingram (Michael). Additional­ly, she has 5 grandchild­ren: Alex Jackson, Dylan Seid, Amy Seid Ayala, Morgan Mingram and Kathryn Mingram as well as 5 great grandchild­ren: Keira Jackson, Hendrix and Halen Seid, Sydney and Emma Ayala. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Angels Church 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA with burial immediatel­y following at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA.
