Howard James Segur, Jr. of Daly City, CA passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in South San Francisco following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was born on March 30, 1941 in San Francisco, CA, the youngest child of Howard James and Bertha Lenore (Morton) Segur, Sr.

He was raised and educated in San Francisco where he attended Sheridan Grammar School, Aptos Junior High School and graduated in1959 from Lincoln High School.

Shortly after graduating, he met Karen Barber and they were married on February 27, 1960 in Reno, NV. Howard and Karen became the proud parents of two daughters Carol Anne and Catherine.

Howard started working at King Paper Co., which later became Arvey Paper Co., for many years and then worked at Zellerbach Paper Co., where he retired in 2000 after 40 years in the paper industry.

In 1966, he purchased a midget race car and started the first part of 38 years as a race car driver then car owner with the Bay Cities Racing Associatio­n (BCRA). He was a member of the Board of Directors, served as President for 3 terms and was inducted into the BCRA Hall of Fame in 2006, joining a long line of racers and car owners including his father Howard Segur, Sr.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents Howard Segur, Sr. and Bertha Davis and his sisters Thelma Barr and Pamela Bassett. Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years Karen, his daughter Carol Anne Montanez and husband Tom, his daughter Catherine Canavan and husband John and his beloved grandson Robert Carson.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018 from 6:00pm-9:00pm at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue in Daly City. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 10:00am at St.Emydius Catholic Church, 286 Ashton Avenue in San Francisco followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.
