Jim was initially assigned as Parochial Vicar at Saint Gregory Church in San Mateo. After five very happy years, he was appointed to Saint Mary’s Church in Gilroy. In 1975, Fr. Morris began his service at Saint Anne of the Sunset Church in San Francisco. His ministry at Saint Elizabeth Church in San Francisco began in 1981. Two years later, Father was asked by Archbishop John Quinn to accept a short-term appointment as Administrator of Saint Bartholomew Church. Father’s next assignment was at Saint Sebastian Church in Kentfield. After a medical leave, he served at Saint Robert Parish in San Bruno, where he served for six years. In 2002, Fr. Morris was appointed to Saint Raymond Parish in Menlo Park. Fr. Jim retired from active ministry on November 1, 2010. Over the years that followed he kept his spirits up while coping with increasing physical limitations. His brother priests would often mention his deep faith, humble commitment to service in the Archdiocese, and his sense of humor and kindness to all he met.

The family would like to thank Dr. Murphy, Cristina Flores, PhD, RN, and her staff at Cristina’s Care Home in San Bruno for the loving care and quality of life they provided to Fr. Jim.
