Eileen O’Regan

-

Eileen O’Regan passed away peacefully on October 2, 2018, two days short of her 92nd birthday. Loving mother of Ann Marie (Thomas Kronemeyer), the late Patrick O’Regan and Kevin (Mary) O’Regan. Adored grandma to Patrick, Kelly and Parker, and a dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. Eileen was born on October 4, 1926 in Roscommon, Ireland, to Michael and Margaret Mulrooney. Eileen was one of six children and spent her childhood on a beautiful farm in Ireland (which her children and grandchildren had the pleasure of visiting last summer).

As a young woman, Eileen made the decision to leave Ireland and move to the United States, where she lived for over 70 years. Eileen found her home in San Francisco, and there she also found the love of her life, Tom O’Regan. Eileen and Tom married in 1959, and celebrated 46 years of marriage before Tom passed away in 2006. Tom and Eileen were a wonderful pair and, as one cousin recently commented, every family should have a “Tom and Eileen”. They certainly brightened up many a family gathering! And Eileen had an amazing talent for connecting with people, getting to know them in a very special and genuine way. Her easy laughter, positive outlook and unconditional love and support for her family and friends will be her enduring legacy and what we will most miss.

We wish to thank all of the many relatives and friends who visited Eileen regularly - she so loved those visits. We also wish to extend a very special thanks to the wonderful staff at Westborough Royale, Eileen’s home these past three years, and to her caregivers from Pathways Hospice, who surrounded her with love and comfort over the past few months.

Family and friends may visit Friday, October 5, from 5-9 p.m., and are invited to attend the Rosary at 7 p.m. at DUGGAN’S SERRA MORTUARY, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 6, 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s Church, 221 Valley Street. San Francisco, followed by a reception celebrating Eileen’s life. A private committal at Holy Cross Cemetery will take place on Monday, October 8. In lieu of flowers, donations in Eileen’s name may be made to Pathways Home Health and Hospice, www. pathwayshealth.org.
