Green will sit out Wednesday’s game

After missing practice Tuesday with a sore left knee, Warriors forward Draymond Green was ruled out of Wednesday night’s preseason game against the Lakers.

“We’re going to be cautious,” Golden State head coach Steve Kerr said. “He’s still improving, but we feel more comfortable giving him one more day.”

It is a small setback for Green, who participated in shootaround Monday and had eyed a return to game action Wednesday in Las Vegas. The Warriors recognize, however, that they can take their time with a player as experienced as Green.

Before he went through shootaround Monday, Green went eight days without participating in practice. Wednesday will be the third straight preseason game he has missed.

“The plan is to start practice (Thursday) and play him on Friday” against the Lakers in San Jose, Kerr said. “He’ll be ready for the opener” Tuesday against Oklahoma City. No more rest: After resting Klay Thompson, Shaun Livingston and Andre Iguodala for Monday night’s loss to the Suns, Kerr plans to play all of his available players in Golden State’s final two preseason games.

“These last two games will be more dress rehearsal-ish, if that’s a word,” Kerr said. “We haven’t really done much personnel scouting-report stuff. We’ve been more concerned with what we’re doing.

“So, the next two games will be more of our normal game-day routine with scouting reports and matchups, tendencies, that kind of stuff. I’m pretty sure everybody but Draymond will play tomorrow, but that could change, too. We’ll see how everyone’s feeling tomorrow.” Crunch time: Kerr has said that the team plans to make a decision about its 14th roster spot — it wants to keep the 15th and final spot open entering the season — by Saturday, the day after the preseason finale. The odd part: Golden State doesn’t know if Patrick McCaw, who has yet to resign, will be on the openingnight roster.

In the meantime, the Warriors must evaluate a couple of different options.

They could sign one of their six training-camp invitees, with wings Danuel House and Alfonzo McKinnie being the front-runners, or they could bring in someone. Additionally, Golden State must decide who is going to fill its open two-way contract.
