Carolina extends streak to 3
Sebastian Aho has earned a point in every game this season. So have the Hurricanes, in the team’s best start since the franchise left Hartford, Conn., in 1997.
Aho had a goal and an assist, and Carolina beat the visiting Canucks 5-3 on Tuesday night for its third straight win to improve to 3-0-1 under new head coach and former team captain Rod Brind’Amour. The Hurricanes earned points in their first four games for the first time since 1994-95, when they were still the Whalers and opened 4-0-1.

Morgan Rielly had a career-high four assists, after he scored the winning goal in Sunday night’s 7-6 overtime victory at Chicago. Flames 3, Predators 0: Mike Smith made 43 saves, Sean Monahan scored twice and Johnny Gaudreau had three assists for visiting Calgary, winner of two of three. Blue Jackets 5, Avalanche 2: Nick Foligno had two goals and an assist as host Columbus dealt Colorado its first loss. New goaltender Murray Matt concussion: Murray is out Pittsburgh indefinitely with a concussion. Head coach Mike Sullivan said Murray suffered it during practice Monday and reported symptoms to the training staff immediately. This is the third time in his NHL career that the 24-year-old has been diagnosed with a concussion.
