Passed away peacefully in Mill Valley, Thursday, October 4, 2018. Age, 80 years. Dear brother of Christian Francoz(Marion) and Alain Francoz(Maryse). Much loved uncle of Eric, Valerie, Emmanuel(Christelle), Thibaut and Anthony. Loving God-Father of Christophe­r Saulnier. Dearest friend of the late Leroy Cheda. Guy was born and raised in Le Perreux sur Marne, France and graduated from the Culinary Institute in Toulouse. After graduating, he began his career in the restaurant business in Nice, Cannes, Paris and Madrid. He came to Sausalito in 1965, where he worked as a waiter for Casa Madrona Hotel. In 1971, Guy opened Le Camenbert Restaurant in Mill Valley and eight years later Bagatelle Restaurant in San Francisco. In 1985, he joined his brother Christian as co-owner of Restaurant L’Olivier in San Francisco, retiring in 2005 after more than 55 years in the restaurant business. Guy had many successes and honors throughout his long career as a restaurate­ur but was particular­ly proud to have been the recipient of the Merite Agricole awarded by the French Government. In retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and visiting Puerta Vallarta and Palm Springs. Friends and family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 11AM at Chapel of the Most Holy Rosary, 1 St. Vincent Drive, Marinwood. Entombment will follow the Funeral Mass at Valley Memorial Park, Novato. Memorial contributi­ons in Guy’s memory may be made to the Carousel Fund, 17 Buckeye Ct, Petaluma, CA 94952.
