OFFENSE

Its four turnovers led to 24 points on drives of 27, 21, 60 and 27 yards. Three of the miscues came from QB C.J. Beathard, who wasn’t assisted by an abysmal offensive-line performance (season-high seven sacks) and nonexistent groups of WRs (four catches, 35 yards). The 49ers will see DT Aaron Donald, who bull rushed C Weston Richburg into Beathard for a sack, in their nightmares.

DEFENSE

The but their Rams average rolled up scoring 39 points, drive was 34.6 yards. In other words, the errors from the offense and special teams consistently provided short fields. But this unit wasn’t blameless. It has gone 15 quarters since its last takeaway after CB Ahkello Witherspoon and S Adrian Colbert ran into each other and prevented a would-be interception.

SPECIAL TEAMS

There was a blocked punt that rolled through the end zone for a safety, and the Rams kicked a field goal on their next possession after the free kick was returned to Los Angeles’ 47-yard line. The 49ers later allowed a 36-yard punt return that set up a 13-yard TD drive.

COACHING

The 49ers were playing on a short week Green Bay, after Monday and a dispiriting they night couldn’t loss in summon anything close to a similar effort. Kyle Shanahan could try a more buttonedup offense to limit turnovers, but the reality is he’s stuck playing a backup QB.

OVERALL

The Rams are obviously a superior team, but they still should have to break a sweat to win by 29 points. Not Sunday. The 49ers’ only solace is an upcoming schedule filled with fellow sad sacks: the Cardinals, Raiders and Giants.
