Buffalo rallies to top Anaheim

Buffalo’s Rasmus Ristolaine­n scored a tie-breaking power-play goal early in the third period, and the Sabres rallied from a two-goal deficit to beat the Ducks 4-2 in Anaheim on Sunday.

Kyle Okposo and Jeff Skinner scored 88 seconds apart in the second period to even it before Ristolaine­n ripped a rising slap shot through traffic and past goalie Ryan Miller for his first goal of the season. Patrik Berglund added an empty-net goal for the Sabres.

Okposo also had an assist and goaltender Carter Hutton made several big saves in the frantic final minute.

“Down the stretch, we made some big plays,” Skinner said. “It’s a nice feeling when you win like that.”

Sam Reinhart had two assists and Hutton stopped 26 shots as Buffalo wrapped up a five-game West Coast trip with three wins. Lightning 6, Blackhawks 3: Brayden Point had a goal and two assists for visiting Tampa Bay, which in its three-goal second period had 33 shots on goal — the most in a period since shots by period became an official stat in 1997.

Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman each added a goal and assist, and Anthony Cirelli, Yanni Gourde and Ryan Callahan also scored for Tampa Bay, which had a team-record 55 shots on net. Flames 4, Rangers 1: Johnny Gaudreau and Garnet Hathaway each scored twice and backup goalie David Rittich made 44 saves for visiting Calgary. Briefly: Charles Wang, who was the majority owner of the Islanders from 2000 through ’16, died of lung cancer in Oyster Bay, N.Y. He was 74 . ... The Oilers placed wing Ty Rattie on injured reserve with an abdominal injury.
