Stanford women romp in soccer and volleyball

Catarina Macario came off the bench to score two goals and Abby Gruebel had a goal and two assists as the No. 1 Stanford women’s soccer team set a season high in goals with a 7-0 win over No. 15 Colorado on Sunday, stretching the nation’s longest unbeaten streak to 37 games.

The Cardinal (14-0-1, 6-0-0 Pac-12), the defending national champions, have won 25 straight at home and 25 straight Pac-12 matches. During the 37-game unbeaten streak, which ranks seventh in NCAA history, Stanford has outscored opponents 122-13.

Goalkeeper Alison Jahansouz made three key saves to earn the shutout; the Cardinal have not given up a goal in 461:52 minutes of play.

Jordan DiBiasi, Kiki Pickett, Civana Kuhlmann and Jaye Boissiere also scored against Colorado (13-1-3, 5-1-2).

The No. 7 Santa Clara women also are having a fine season. Maria Sanchez scored in the eighth minute and the Broncos (14-2-1, 5-1 WCC) won 1-0 over visiting Gonzaga (84-3, 3-2-1).

In men’s soccer, Filippo Zattarin’s free kick goal in the 97th minute gave No. 4 St. Mary’s (14-0, 3-0 WCC) a 2-1 win over visiting Santa Clara. The Broncos fell to 4-8-1, 0-3. ... Amir Bashti, Zach Ryan and Tanner Beason all scored and No. 12 Stanford (8-2-4, 5-1-1 Pac-12) earned a 3-1 victory over visiting Washington. The Huskies fell to 8-7 and 3-4.

In women’s volleyball, Kathryn Plummer had a matchhigh 19 kills as No. 2 Stanford (18-0, 10-0 Pac-12) won 3-1 at No. 16 Oregon (13-7, 6-4 Pac-12).
