Shirley Jean Schoen (nee Rodgers)

Shirley Schoen was a lifelong San Francisco resident. She is predecease­d by her beloved husband of 51 years, George A. Schoen, who died in 2001.

Her “dirt nap”, as she joked, began on October 13, 2018, in her home in San Francisco since 1965. She took her last breath with two of her children holding her hands.

Her passions included; family & friends, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing, and making people laugh. She was beloved and will be remembered by many.

Shirley is survived by her three children; Mark (Chrissy) Schoen, Gary (Linda) Schoen and Susan Schoen, grandchild­ren; Elise (Dan Milholland) Schon, Stephen Schoen, Jennifer (Nick) Simcox, Chelsea Cook Schon, Katy Bell Schon, step-grandsons Jacob & Joshua Muzyka, and greatgrand­son Liam George Simcox.

Shirley was an only child but her first cousin, Wanda (Ed) Madsen, was essentiall­y her sister.

A Vigil and Rosary are scheduled for 11:30 am on Saturday, October 20th, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 pm at St. Brendan’s Church, 29 Rockaway Ave. in San Francisco. Immediatel­y following is a chapel service at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetary, 1500 Mission Rd., Colma. A reception will be held in her home afterward.
