Dr. Indrojit Singh

-

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Indrojit Singh (Jit) announces his sudden passing on September 13th, 2018. He was born in Greenbrae, California in 1954 to Dr. Surjit Singh and Mrs. Surjit Singh (predeceased) and was raised in San Anselmo and Sleepy Hollow followed by a move to San Rafael where he enjoyed living for many years. In Jit’s early years he excelled in sports from Midget League to Varsity Baseball and became MVP ‘C’s” Basketball to Varsity Basketball at Sir Francis Drake High School.

After graduating from U.C.Davis with a B.A. in 1976, he went on to the California School of Professional Psychology in Berkeley receiving a M.A. in 1978 and a Ph.D in 1982. He was the Clinical Director of the Marin Treatment Center from 1984-1986 followed by his private practice as a Clinical Psychologist in San Francisco and Corte Madera.

Jit lived for the outdoors and spent much time at Drakesbad in Mt. Lassen National Park, Goleta, Santa Barbara County, Oregon and Sayulita, Mexico. He travelled all over the world and eventually wanted to retire in Mexico. Jit was outgoing and a friend to so many different kinds of people. At an early age he showed his compassion for others and was always trying to help the downtrodden. He was an avid sports fan, loved to cook, was a sensational host and was the grill master at family get togethers. He was the life of the party. He appreciated his time with his neighbors in San Rafael and was nicknamed the “mayor” of the neighborhood. Jit deeply cared for his many friends, colleagues, clients and family including his “2 sons”, dogs Luke and Kohl Wick Singh (predeceased).

Jit is greatly missed by his sisters, Smita Singh Durando (John) and Rita Singh Roberts (Randy) and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in India. Please join the family for a Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, November 10th, 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 72 Kensington Rd., San Anselmo followed by an Interment of Ashes at the Memorial Garden and Reception at Duncan Hall next door.
