and friends who are providing her with love and support during this profoundly painful time.”
A GoFundMe page for the family said that Garza had just picked up his daughter from her grandparents’ house and was driving home when his car was hit. It said Camilla suffered severe head trauma and had been put on life support.
On Tuesday, after Camilla’s death, the Contra Costa County district attorney’s office announced that it has charged Martin with two counts of murder, one count of driving under the influence of alcohol causing great bodily injury, and one count of driving with a .08 percent blood alcohol content causing injury.
Martin was arrested at John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek after getting treatment for moderate injuries. She’s held on $2.1 million bail. She made a court appearance Wednesday in Contra Costa Superior Court but did not enter a plea. Her arraignment is set for Nov. 8.
The driver of the first vehicle struck by Martin’s car was rescued by Contra Costa County firefighters and taken to the John Muir Medical Center with major injuries. His condition was unknown.
The driver in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries. A passenger in Martin’s vehicle, who police have not identified, sustained minor injuries.
