Tosca Tecla (Francescon­i) Sartorio

Tosca Tecla Francescon­i Sartorio was born and raised in San Francisco’s North Beach of Italian immigrants, Gesualdo and Adele (Landi) Francescon­i, who came to San Francisco in the early 1900’s. Her father establishe­d the Tosca Café in 1919.

Tosca attended Francisco Jr. High and Galileo High School. After school she attended Italian school where she learned about the history of Italy.

She worked in advertisin­g for the Emporium/ Capwell for over 20 years, retiring to spend time with her husband Paul, cooking and entertaini­ng their many friends and family.

In the ‘89 San Francisco quake Tosca and her husband endured the quake’s aftermath for over 6 weeks without power or water. The remaining hardy neighbors nightly convened at their home pooling their dwindling resources for dinner.

She was very active in the SVDP Seniors where again they were in charge of cooking dinners for the Seniors.

Tosca died one montht shy of her 98th birthday. Predecease­d by her husband Paul, great-grandson Devin Chiappari, sister Vickie Morgan, and nephew Robert Sartorio.

She is survived by her sister Martha Holroyd, children Paul (Cheryl) Sartorio, Patty (Harry) Chelini, and Linda Sartorio. Additional­ly she has six grandchild­ren and nine great-grandchild­ren and four nieces and nephews. Her family will remember her in their hearts as a caring and loving person.

A memorial mass will be held on Nov.16, 2018, 10:30 am at St. Vincent’s Church, Holy Rosary Chapel, 1 St, Vincent Dr. San Rafael
