A San Jose woman accused of abducting her two children late last week has been taken into custody after all three were located, unharmed, in Colorado, San Jose police said Monday.

Police said 33-year-old Diana Moreira made off with her 1year-old son, Alexander Penaloza, and 11-year-old daughter, Priscilla Penaloza, on Friday evening during a supervised visit with Child Protective Services. The report prompted an Amber Alert, and authorities said Moreira could be heading to Colorado Springs, Colo.

The El Paso County Sheriff ’s Office contacted San Jose police on Monday with information that Moreira and her children were at a residence in their jurisdiction, San Jose police said.

San Jose detectives asked that the Sheriff ’s Office make contact with Moreira, and deputies took her into custody. She will be booked into the El Paso County Sheriff ’s Office Criminal Justice Center on suspicion of child endangerment and an outstanding kidnapping warrant, officials said.

Officers responded about 5:20 p.m. Friday for a welfare check at Emma Prusch Farm Park, at 647 King Road, said San Jose police spokesman Sgt. Enrique Garcia.

A social worker told police she took Priscilla to the bathroom and when the two returned, Moreira and her son were gone. While the social worker was looking for the two, Priscilla went missing, Garcia said.

Moreira will be extradited to California at a later date, Garcia said.
