OFFENSE

The Raiders were balanced (271 passing yards, 171 rushing yards) and potent (6.4 yards a play), with seven plays of 20-plus yards. Derek Carr posted his second-highest passer rating (123.2) of the season. Jalen Richard got loose for 95 yards on six carries. Three fumbles were critical.

DEFENSE

Paul Guenther said early this season he isn’t used to giving up 40-point games. The defense has given up three this season, with the Chiefs averaging 6.9 yards per play Sunday. The Raiders were simply unable at times to counter the playmaking of Patrick Mahomes, but they aren’t alone.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Jon Gruden thinks the Raiders have found a long-term kicker in rookie Daniel Carlson, who hit from 44 and 50 yards and is 9-for-10 on field goals for the Raiders. Johnny Townsend had a season-worst 22-yard punt. The Raiders’ average field possession to start their drives was the 32.

COACHING

L Turnovers slightly how masked well the Raiders moved the ball against the Chiefs defense. They trailed 13-0 in the second quarter but didn’t let the game slip away. Players on both sides of the ball sounded optimistic about improvements made in the past three weeks.

OVERALL

The seed with Raiders and the might went AFC’s have toe-totoe top had a different outcome if not for the turnovers. Looking for a silver lining? The Raiders gave maybe their most inspired effort of the season while still remaining in the running for the No. 1 overall pick in the draft.
