Rahm wins by 4 shots; Tiger is 17th among 18

Jon Rahm turned a potential shootout into a Bahamas breeze, closing with a 7-under-par 65 for a four-shot victory at in the Hero World Challenge in Nassau.

Justin Rose, needing to finish in a three-way tie for second to return to No. 1 in the world, closed with a 65 and was in position to do so until Tony Finau rolled in a 10-foot birdie putt for a 69 to finish alone in second. Tiger Woods shot a 1-over 73 to finish 17th in the 18-man field.

That makes two full years as a pro for the 24-year-old Rahm, each with three victories worldwide.

“I hope I keep winning three times every year,” Rahm said. “Still wouldn’t get to what Tiger’s done in 20 years, but it would be pretty impressive.”

Cameron Smith closed with a 2-under 70 to successful­ly defend his title in the Australian PGA Championsh­ip with a two-stroke victory over Marc Leishman in Gold Coast.

Kurt Kitayama won his first European Tour title in his third start by closing with a 4-under 68 for a two-shot victory in the Mauritius Open.

Skiing: In Lake Louise, Alberta, American Mikaela Shiffrin captured her first World Cup super-G race to give her a win in all five major discipline­s. Shiffrin has 46 World Cup victories in the slalom, giant slalom, downhill, super-G and combined.

In Beaver Creek, Colo., Stefan Luitz of Germany used a powerful finish to capture a World Cup giant slalom, ending Austrian standout Marcel Hirscher’s fiverace winning streak in the discipline.

Boxing: Canadian light heavyweigh­t Adonis Stevenson has been upgraded from critical to stable condition and remains in an induced coma after being knocked out Saturday in a WBC title fight in Quebec City. Oleksandr Gvozdyk stopped Stevenson at 2:49 of the 11th round.

Horse racing: Vasilika’s eightrace win streak ended when she finished fourth behind East Coast horses Uni ($13.20), Daddy Is a Legend and Quidura in the Grade 1 Matriarch Stakes at Del Mar. Uni and Quidura are trained by Chad Brown. Vasilika is trained and co-owned by Jerry Hollendorf­er, who claimed her for $40,000 on Feb. 11; she has earned $609,528 since the claim.

Basketball: Travis Trice scored 17 points and the United States, using a roster of mostly G League players, rallied to beat host Uruguay 78-70 and clinch a spot in next year’s FIBA World Cup in China.

Soccer: Visiting Bordeaux held Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-2 draw to end the runaway leader’s streak of 14 straight wins to start the season in the French league. PSG leads second-place Montpellie­r by 14 points.

Arsenal scored three goals in the second half to come from behind to beat Tottenham 4-2 in a north London derby that saw clashes between players, fans lighting flares and throwing projectile­s onto the field, two penalties and a red card. The Gunners extended their unbeaten run to 19 games and moved back into the English Premier League’s top four.

Host Barcelona retook the lead of the Spanish league after beating Villarreal 2-0, while Sevilla was held to a draw at Alaves. Barcelona’s first win in three rounds left it one point above second-place Sevilla.

Dallas Dorosy scored in the 60th minute to help Florida State beat North Carolina 1-0 in Cary, N.C., for the NCAA Women’s College Cup championsh­ip.
