Mary Lou Deglianton­i, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on December 7, 2018. She is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Ed; son, Mark and daughters Denise (Rob) and Lisa (Dave); six grandsons, Bobby, Jack, Louie, Miles, Niccolo, Roman.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Mary Lou was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church, baptized at Notre Dame de Victoire on Bush Street. She attended St. Peter’s and Mercy High School and graduated from San Francisco State University with her teaching credential­s.

She worked as an elementary school teacher for more than 30 years, starting out in San Francisco public schools and spending the last 20 years of her career teaching first grade at Saint Matthew Catholic School.

Together with her husband Ed, she led an active, social lifestyle. Besides being dedicated to their six grandsons, they enjoyed travel (visiting 20 countries), volunteeri­ng (St. Anthony’s), playing cards (Pedro group for 40 years) and family traditions (Lake Almanor).

Mary Lou truly lived life to the fullest, mastering the art of lifelong friendship­s. Everyone who knew her has a fun story to share about their times together. Mary Lou had an uncanny ability to reach people in a fun and positive way.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 13: Viewing 6 p.m., Vigil 7 p.m., and Friday: December 14, 10 a.m. at Saint Matthew Catholic Church, 910 S. El Camino Real in San Mateo, arrangemen­ts handled by Sneider, Sullivan & O’Connell’s, 977 S. El Camino Real, San Mateo.
