2 slain in separate Oakland shootings
Two people were killed Tuesday night in Oakland in unrelated shootings within less than 10 minutes of each other, authorities said.
The first shooting occurred at 9:21 p.m. in a residential area on the 600 block of 23rd Street, according to the Oakland Police Department.
Officers arrived to find an adult victim with gunshot wounds, police said. The person, who was not identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nine minutes later and less than 2 miles away in a residential West Oakland neighborhood, a shooting occurred at 9:30 p.m. on the 1000 block of Center Street, police said.
The victim was found with gunshot wounds and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The identities of both victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Authorities said the shootings were unrelated.
No arrests have been made and no suspect information was immediately available.
