Durr helps Louisville extend streak to nine

Asia Durr scored 34 points and No. 2 Louisville held off host Virginia Tech for a 72-63 victory Sunday afternoon.

Sam Fuehring added 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Cardinals (23-1, 10-1 ACC), who won their ninth in a row. Fuehring made consecutiv­e driving baskets in the final quarter after the Hokies had closed to 62-56 with less than four minutes to play.

“I got some good shots out there,” Durr said after making 11 of 21 shots. “All I was trying to do was make a play.”

Dara Mabrey had 17 points for the Hokies (15-8, 2-8).

Colorado 81, USC 76: Mya Hollingshe­d scored 21 points as the host Buffaloes (11-12, 1-11 Pac-12) beat the Trojans (14-9, 4-8) to end an 11-game losing streak.

#4 Notre Dame 97, #24 Florida State 70: Arike Ogunbowale scored 27 points and Jessica Shepard added 26 as the host Irish (21-3, 9-2 ACC) defeated the Seminoles (20-4, 8-3). Ogunbowale, who had 13 points on 4-of-15 shooting Thursday in a loss to No. 25 Miami, moved closer to becoming the school’s leading scorer. She has 2,301 points. Skylar Diggins-Smith is the all-time leader at 2,357.

#6 Mississipp­i State 91, Tennessee 63: Teaira McCowan had 24 points and 15 rebounds and Jordan Danberry added 20 points as the host Bulldogs (22-1, 10-0 SEC) defeated the Volunteers (15-8, 4-6).

#8 Marquette 93, Villanova 55: Natisha Hiedeman scored 22 points and Allazia Blockton had 19 to help the host Golden Eagles (21-3, 12-0 Big East) beat the Wildcats (15-9, 6-7).

#10 Maryland 62, #20 Rutgers 48: Kaila Charles scored 17 points as the visiting Terrapins (22-2, 11-2 Big Ten) beat the Scarlet Knights (17-6, 9-3).

UCLA 100, #17 Utah 90: Kennedy Burke scored 26 points and Michaela Onyen were added 25 to lead the visiting Bruins (15-9, 8-4 Pac-12) past the Utes (18-5, 7-5).
