Bay Area venues for watching World Cup

The United States’ women’s national soccer team will take on the team from the Netherland­s in Lyon, France, for a chance to win the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday, July 7. If the ladies beat the Dutch, it will mark their fourth victory in the internatio­nal competitio­n — so local fans won’t want to miss the historymak­ing game.

Kickoff is at 8 a.m. Sunday, with some Bay Area venues opening as early as 7 a.m. so fans can grab a seat as close to the action as possible. While it’s not the Stade de Lyon, here’s a list of a few local bars, stadiums and venues that are gearing up for watch parties for what is sure to be a memorable match.

American Outlaws: The American Outlaws are a community of soccer fans from all over the nation. True to their mission, the group will be hosting free screenings in Oakland, San Francisco, San

Jose and Santa Rosa.

Berkeley Art Museum and

Pacific Film Archive: Be sure to bring some blankets or lawn chairs for the Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive’s World Cup screening on the facility’s outdoor big screen. 8 a.m. Free. BAMPFA, 2155 Center St., Berkeley. bampfa.org

Brew: This Santa Rosa coffee and beer house has $1 off draft beer and wine on Sundays and has been screening every 2019 World Cup tournament game since it began on June 7. 7 a.m. Free. Brew, 555 Healdsburg Ave., Santa Rosa. www.brewcoffee­andbeer.com

The Presidio Cafe: The nonprofit Girls Leading Girls will be taking over the Presidio Cafe for a World Cup screening. But that’s not all — there will be a juggling show at halftime, as well as prizes for those with the most spirit. While the event is free, fans are advised to call the Presidio Cafe ahead of time to let them know you’re joining the screening.

New Parkway Theater: Diverging from its normal selection of movies, the New Parkway Theater plans to screen the match on the big screen. The cafe will be opening early to offer breakfast food or selections from their usual menu.

Civic Center Plaza: Right in the heart of San Francisco’s municipal government, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and San Francisco Parks Alliance are hosting a free screening outdoors at Civic Center Plaza. 8 a.m. Free. Avaya Stadium: The San Jose Earthquake­s will play host to a South Bay viewing party at the soccer team’s home field. Fans can enjoy watching the match on the video board at Avaya Stadium for free, but everyone is required to RSVP online.
