1 5 killed: Police in St. Louis say five people were found slain in an apartment building. Police described the dead as adults, but did not elaborate on what led to the slayings. Police Chief Jon Belmar said only that they were victims of homicide. The group and a sixth person had been at the apartment Friday night. The sixth person left sometime overnight and returned Saturday afternoon to find the bodies, police said. No arrests have been made.

2 ects Rushmore at the Mount renovation: Rushmore Major National constructi­on Memorial proj in South Dakota are scheduled to begin this week. The National Park Service says work will continue through much of 2020. Mount Rushmore spokeswoma­n Maureen McGeeBalli­nger said the upgrades are designed to make it easier to traverse the park and provide clearer views of Gutzon Borglum’s sculpture, which features the faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Parts of the park will be closed during constructi­on, including a visitor’s center and amphitheat­er. McGeeBalli­nger says visitors will still have good views of the sculpture and the finished product is “going to be beautiful.”

3 Heritage sites: Eight buildings designed by famed American architect Frank Lloyd Wright were added Sunday to the UNESCO World Heritage list. They include the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, the Hollyhock House in Los Angeles and the Unity Temple in Oak Park, Ill. The Chicago suburb has the largest concentrat­ion of Wrightdesi­gned buildings. The other buildings designed by Wright are the Frederick C. Robie House in Chicago; Taliesin and the Herbert and Katherine Jacobs House, both in Wisconsin; Fallingwat­er in Mill Run, Penn.; and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Ariz. Currently, there are 1,092 designated World Heritage sites in 167 countries.

5 Deadly crash: Seven people were killed in a chainreact­ion highway crash in Georgia when a vehicle crossed over the median into oncoming traffic, authoritie­s said. Three others were injured in the multivehic­le accident Saturday. The State Patrol said the collision happened on Interstate 85 about 80 miles northeast of Atlanta. A northbound Ford Excursion crossed the median for unknown reasons, the patrol said. Three people were killed and three injured in the Excursion. Four occupants of another vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, authoritie­s said.
