The Warriors have agreed to a oneyear, veteranminimum contract with freeagent guard Alec Burks, a league source confirmed with The Chronicle on Monday.

The Athletic was first to report the news.

Burks was expected to sign with the Thunder, but Oklahoma City allowed him to reconsider his agreement with the team after Saturday’s trade that sent Paul George to the Clippers. After averaging 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 34 games last season with the Cavaliers, Burks was traded in February to the Kings as part of a threeteam deal.

Burks struggled to crack Sacramento’s rotation, averaging 9.8 minutes in 13 games. But at 27 years old, he still has value as a backup wing who can defend multiple positions and knock down the open 3pointer.

Burks is a career 35.5% shooter from 3point range. As the league trends toward smallball lineups, he has shifted from being primarily a shooting guard to a small forward.

With Klay Thompson expected to miss the start of next season with an ACL injury, Burks, Glenn Robinson III and Alfonzo McKinnie will shore up the smallforward position. The Warriors have 14 players projected on their 201920 roster, 11 of whom are no older than 25.

Ellis workout: The Warriors were one of 12 teams attending Monday evening’s workout in Las Vegas featuring Monta Ellis and Amar’e Stoudemire, a league source confirmed with The Chronicle.

Yahoo Sports was first to report the news.

In addition to the Warriors, the Lakers, Knicks, Thunder, Bucks, Pistons and Wizards were expected to attend the workout.
