Warren fundraising: Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts raised $19.1 million for her 2020 presidential campaign in the past three months, more than tripling the amount she raised in the first quarter of 2019 — a strong showing of her ability to turn her campaign’s gathering momentum into more robust fundraising even as she forswears highdollar donors. Warren brought in less than the amount raised by Pete Buttigieg, the South Bend, Ind., mayor who looks to be the top fundraiser in the field with $24.8 million collected in the last three months, and former Vice President Joe Biden, who raised $21.5 million in a little less than three months.

House subpoenas: The House Judiciary Committee is moving to authorize subpoenas for several people tied to special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, including President Trump’s soninlaw, Jared Kushner, and former Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The resolution coming up for a vote Thursday would authorize subpoenas for documents and testimony from 12 people in all, including former national security adviser Michael Flynn, former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Marijuana use: New research suggests legalizing recreational marijuana for U.S. adults in some states may have slightly reduced teens’ odds of using pot. One reason may be that it’s harder and costlier for teens to buy marijuana from licensed dispensaries than from dealers, said lead author Mark Anderson, a health economist at Montana State University in Bozeman. The researchers analyzed national youth health and behavior surveys from 1993 through 2017 that included questions about marijuana use. Thirtythree states have passed medical marijuana laws and 11 have legalized recreational use — generally for ages 21 and up. There was no change linked with medical marijuana legislation but odds of teen use declined almost 10% after recreational marijuana laws were enacted. The study was published this week by JAMA Pediatrics.

Lightning strike: Federal aviation officials say a Southwest Airlines passenger flight from Baltimore was struck by lightning during its journey to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Southwest and Federal Aviation Administration officials told news outlets Flight 2133 was diverted and landed safely in Orlando, Fla., on Monday. The plane was removed from service pending inspection and passengers were put on a different plane. There were no reports of injuries among the 168 passengers and six crew members.

Aretha Franklin: Michigan’s governor signed legislation this week honoring the late Queen of Soul with a highway designation. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer approved the bill to designate a portion of M10 in Detroit as the “Aretha L. Franklin Memorial Highway.” Franklin died in Detroit last year after battling pancreatic cancer. The Democratic said Franklin’s “creativity and voice contributed to our musical and cultural history in Michigan.”
