Tuolumne facilities: The Tuolumne Meadows Grill is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Tuolumne Meadows Store is open, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge opens Friday through Sept. 29; www.travelyose­mite.com.

Tuolumne camping: Tuolumne Meadows Campground has 304 sites for tents and self-contained RVs and trailers up to 35 feet. Half of the sites are first-come, first-served; $26 per night. Reserve at www.recreation.gov. Tioga Road camping: Spurs off Tioga Road lead to Tamarack Flat, Yosemite Creek campground­s, open, first-come, first-served, no piped water available, $12 per night; White Wolf, Porcupine Flat campground openings imminent, first-come, firstserve­d. Tioga Pass camping: Outside Yosemite boundary, Forest Service camps available at Tioga Lake, Ellery Lake, Saddlebag Lake, and in canyon along Lee Vining Creek, no reservatio­ns, see details in Moon California Camping. Day hikes: Wilderness permits are not required Overnight hikes: Wilderness permits required for overnight hikes in Yosemite Wilderness; reserve in advance through Yosemite Conservanc­y at www.yosemiteco­nservancy.org — on left column, click on “Wilderness Permits.” $5 per person plus $5 for confirmed reservatio­n. Some permits kept in reserve (plus no-shows) also available, first-come, first-served, daily at Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center. Unreserved Wilderness Permits are available starting at 11 a.m. on the day prior to your wilderness entry date.

Bear-proofing food: Bear canisters required for food storage in wilderness; rentals available at Tuolumne Meadows Wilderness Center and park entrance kiosks; $5 per canister per week.

Campfires: Wood fires allowed at existing fire rings only with Wilderness Permit and prohibited above 9,600 feet
