Barca, Real Madrid draw amid protests

Host Barcelona and Real Madrid played out a 00 draw for the first time since 2002 in a supercharg­ed “clasico” match played amid a large separatist protest that turned violent.

The game inside Camp Nou stadium was completed without any major incidents on the field or in the stands. But outside, a detachment of riot police clashed with protesters soon after the start, and plastic trash cans were set on fire. The smell of smoke reached the stands in the final minutes of the match.

The two Manchester clubs will meet in the semifinals of the English League Cup after both pulled clear in the second half to beat lowerdivis­ion opponents in the last eight. City beat thirdtier Oxford 31. United earned a 30 win over Colchester at home. Courts: Former NFL cornerback Deltha O’Neal, a firstround pick out of Cal in 2000, has been charged with felony drunken driving in connection with an August highspeed crash that seriously injured him and a passenger, Florida court records show. O’Neal, 42, had a bloodalcoh­ol level of 0.16 after the Aug. 7 crash, according to a Palm Beach County arrest affidavit made public this week. He is free pending arraignmen­t Jan. 9.

An Ohio judge awarded $830,000 to a woman who claimed exboxing champion Adrien Broner, 30, sexually assaulted her at a Cleveland nightclub. The default judgment was delivered Tuesday after Broner didn’t defend himself in the suit. Golf: Barracuda Championsh­ip officials announced that the PGA Tour tournament that has been held in Reno since 1999 is moving next summer to Tahoe Mountain Club’s Old Greenwood Golf Course at Truckee (Nevada County). It’s another mountain course designed by Jack Nicklaus about 30 miles away near Lake Tahoe. Obituary: ExNHL player Scot Kleinendor­st died Tuesday of injuries in a workplace accident in northern Minnesota. He suffered brain trauma and broken bones at a paper plant in Grand Rapids on Dec. 7. Kleinendor­st played eight seasons with the Rangers, Whalers and Capitals.
