Huberdeau paces Florida
Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau scored two goals in 35 seconds and added two assists as the host Panthers beat the Montreal Canadiens 65 on Sunday night.
Huberdeau’s linemates, Aleksander Barkov (two goals, one assist) and Evgenii Dadonov (three assists), contributed as well and Sergei Bobrovsky made 37 saves for Florida.
“Huby was special tonight,” Florida head coach Joel Quenneville said. “He had several nice looks, great plays. He had the puck on his stick a lot. I thought that line played well together.”
Jeff Petry had a goal and two assists for Montreal.
“You can’t be playing pond hockey in this league and expect to come out and win hockey games,” Montreal head coach Claude Julien said. “We’re sloppy. Lightning 2, Red Wings 1: Brayden Point scored decisive goal in the third period as host Tampa Bay beat Detroit for the 16th consecutive time. Stars 4, Coyotes 2: Roope Hintz scored the go-ahead goal with 4:09 left, part of Dallas’ four-goal third period. Host Arizona lost center Derek Stepan to an upper-body injury in the second period. Flyers 2, Ducks 1: Kevin Hayes scored at 3:53 of overtime to give visiting Philadelphia its fifth win in six games. Canucks 5, Flames 2: Tanner Pearson and Tyler Myers each had two goals and an assist for visiting Vancouver. Islanders 3, Wild 1: Ryan Pulock and Matt Martin scored 1:37 apart in the third period as visiting New York won. Devils 4, Senators 3: Jack Hughes scored 54 seconds into overtime for visiting New Jersey. Briefly: The Lightning activated defenseman Braydon Coburn, who missed 13 games with a lower-body injury . ...
