OFFENSE
Welcome run-pass very didn’t old deviate school, ratio to 1968. from (42-8) and The it they because was 49ers’ Raheem Mostert (220 yards, 4
TDs) was unstoppable. The smashmouth tone was actually set by a wide receiver — Deebo Samuel ran over safety Darnell Savage on a 30-yard catch in the first quarter — and the rest of Savage’s teammates spent the evening getting steamrolled as the 49ers had the eighth-most rushing yards (285) in NFL playoff history while averaging 6.8 yards an attempt. Jimmy
Garoppolo? Well, he completed 6 of 8 passes. But they’ll probably need him for the Super Bowl.
DEFENSE
Don’t Bay’s which second-half be allowed fooled QB by stats, Aaron Green
yards, 2 TDs, Rodgers 2 interceptions) (31-for-39, 326 and wide receiver Davante Adams (9 catches, 138 yards) to post impressive lines. The game was over at halftime because the Packers at that point had zero points, zero third-down conversions and 64 passing yards and a 52.1 passer rating from Rodgers. Adams’ firsthalf totals: one catch, 7 yards.
Cornerback Emmanuel Moseley had an interception that set up a 30-yard TD drive that made the score 27-0 at intermission.
SPECIAL TEAMS
54-yard Robbie Gould’s field goal in the second quarter was the longest in franchise playoff history and his longest since 2015. It was the highlight of a 3-of-3 performance that also included kicks of 27 and 42 yards.
Mitch Wishnowsky had just two punts, but he pinned the Packers at their 8-yard line on his second one.
Richie James’ lone punt return was a 26-yarder that set the stage for a short field-goal drive.
COACHING
from Anyone Kyle to play Green call Shanahan on a 3rdand-8 Bay’s expect trap 36-yard quarter? line None in the of the first Packers did, either. Mostert was barely touched on his TD run down the left sideline.
Some coaches might mix it up or throw in a few passes to avoid boredom, but
Shanahan stuck with what worked: At one point, Garoppolo didn’t throw a pass in 24 minutes of game action.
OVERALL
Are any there doubts about who is the best team in the NFC? The 49ers completely outclassed the secondseeded, 13-win Packers and will head to
Miami on a wave of confidence. An intriguing question:
Will they rely on
Ground Kyle for a third straight postseason game?
