Prechtel helps No. 6 Stanford romp past Washington State

Ashten Prechtel had 19 points and 14 rebounds and No. 6 Stanford cruised past host Washington State 7149 on Sunday.

Kiana Williams scored 17 points and Lexie Hull had 16 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinal (202, 91), who tied No. 3 Oregon for the Pac12 lead.

After scoring 32 points Friday against Cal, Borislava Hristova was held to 15 points on 5for18 shooting for Washington State (1012, 37). Jovana Subasic scored 12 points and Chanelle Molina had 10 for the Cougars, who shot 31% from the field, including 0for15 from 3point range.

“I thought we played well defensivel­y. If you are keeping teams scoring in the 40s, that is good,” Stanford head coach Tara VanDerveer said. “It is a tough game and we are excited to win.”

The Cardinal jumped to a 238 lead in the first quarter with a flurry of buckets from five players. Washington State struggled, shooting 25% from the field and committing five turnovers.

The Cougars responded with an 113 run to start the second quarter. Stanford led 4227 at the break and then held Washington State to eight points on 22% shooting in the third quarter to take control.

Cal 81, Washington 74:

CJ West scored 22 points and Jaelyn Brown added 19 points and 11 rebounds as the Bears (912, 19 Pac12) prevailed in Seattle to end their skid at nine games.

“It’s great to get that monkey off our back and get into the win column,” Cal head coach Charmin Smith said. “We’ve been fighting and working really hard, and I wanted this really bad for our players.”

Amber Melgoza scored 35 points to lead the Huskies (1011, 28 ).

#1 South Carolina 69,

#22 Tennessee 48: Zia Cooke scored 20 points to help the host Gamecocks (211, 90 SEC) win their 15th in a row. Rennia Davis had 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Vols (175, 72).

#7 N.C. State 63, Duke

60: Elissa Cunane scored 22 of her 27 points in the second half and the visiting Wolfpack (211, 101 ACC) beat the Blue Devils (1110, 55). #8 UCLA 70, #19 Arizona State 61: Japreece

Dean scored 18 points, Charisma Osborne had 15 points and Michaela Onyenwere added 14 to help the Bruins (192, 82 Pac12) beat the host Sun Devils (166, 64). Robbi Ryan and Jamie Ruden had 15 points apiece for Arizona State.

#16 Arizona 73, USC 57:

Aari McDonald scored 20 points and Cate Reese added 18 points and 17 rebounds for the host Wildcats (183, 73 Pac12). Alissa Pili scored 21 points for the Trojans (1110, 37).

UCLA 73, Utah 57: Tyger

Campbell scored 22 points and Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 18 points to lead the host Bruins (1210, 54 Pac12) past the Utes (129, 36).

#18 Iowa 72. #19 Illinois

65: Luka Garza scored 25 points as the host Hawkeyes (166, 74 Big Ten) defeated the Illini (166, 83). Andres Feliz led Illinois with 17 points.
