_1 Security breach: The opera singer who drew gunfire when she smashed an SUV through security checkpoints outside President Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Fla., is mentally ill and wasn’t taking her medication before leading a trooper on a wild chase, her attorney told a judge Monday. Attorney David Roth did not elaborate on Hannah Roemhild’s illness, but the judge agreed to have her seen by a psychologist before another hearing is held Friday. Authorities say there is no indication Roemhild, 30, knew she was speeding toward MaraLago and its security barriers. No one was hurt, and Trump was not there at the time.
_2 Mother slain: An aspiring Chicago rapper who posted a video on YouTube of himself throwing thousands of dollars that he inherited from his mother to his “fans” has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for her 2012 murderforhire killing. Qaw’mane Wilson, 30, was sentenced by a judge who also sentenced the convicted gunman, Eugene Spencer, to 100 years. Both were convicted last year in the killing of Yolanda Holmes, who was a hairstylist. Prosecutors said Holmes doted on her son, an only child, lavishing him with fancy clothes, jewelry and a Mustang, but that he wanted more. Wilson, then 23, sent Spencer to his mother’s apartment to kill her in September 2012 so that Wilson could raid her bank accounts, prosecutors said.
_3 Deputy shooting: A California man was shot and killed after he charged at a deputy in Yuma, Ariz., with a knife, authorities said. The shooting happened Sunday night after deputies were called to a report of a domestic violence situation, the sheriff ’s office said. Deputies encountered 63yearold Chris Cadotte, of Orange County, holding a knife and he refused commands to drop it. A deputy shot Cadotte as he approached still holding the knife. Cadotte died a short time later at a hospital.

The company said the cause of Garcia’s death is under investigation. Inmates have died at publicly run and privately run prisons in Mississippi since late December.
