#4 Aztecs rip Lobos, improve to 250

Matt Mitchell had 22 points and 12 rebounds as No. 4 San Diego State took control in the second half and remained unbeaten by knocking off visiting New Mexico 8259 on Tuesday night.

Yanni Wetzell had 20 points and nine boards for the Aztecs (250, 140 Mountain West).

The Lobos (179, 67) trailed 3533 at halftime. #6 Dayton 81, Rhode Island 67: Obi Toppin scored 22 points and led an opening 17point spurt as the host Flyers (222, 110 Atlantic 10) stopped the Rams (186, 102), who had won their previous 10 games. Dayton extended its winning streak to 13.

Toppin had a doubledoub­le with 10 rebounds. Jalen Crutcher scored 21 points, and Trey Landers matched his career high with 14 rebounds. #9 Maryland 72, Nebraska 70: Jalen Smith had 16 points and 13 rebounds, Eric Ayala scored 16 points and the host Terrapins (204, 103) extended their winning streak to seven games and remained alone atop the Big Ten.

Donta Scott had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Maryland, and Anthony Cowan Jr. totaled 13 points and 10 assists. It was the first time since 2001 that three Terps registered doubledoub­les in the same game.

Haanif Cheatham scored 20 points for the Huskers (717, 211), who have lost nine straight and are 09 on the road.

#12 Kentucky 78, Vanderbilt 64: Tyrese Maxey scored 25 points and the visiting Wildcats (195, 92 SEC) overcame a 14point deficit in the first half. The Commodores fell to 915, 110.

#13 Penn State 88, Purdue 76: Mike Watkins matched his season high with 19 points and Seth Lundy added a careerhigh 18 to lift the visiting Nittany Lions (195, 94 Big Ten) over the Boilermake­rs (1411, 77).

Michigan State 70, #22 Illinois 69: The Illini’s Ayo Dosunmu crumbled to the floor clutching his left knee as the Spartans’ Xavier Tillman threw down a dunk at the buzzer that lifted visiting Michigan State.

The severity of Dosunmu’s injury wasn’t immediatel­y made available. The Illini’s leading scorer had 17 points Tuesday and was averaging 15.8 per game.

Rocket Watts led the Spartans (178, 95 Big Ten) with 21 points, and Tillman had 17. Andres Feliz scored 15 points for Illinois (168, 85). #25 LSU 82, Missouri 78: Darius Days scored seven of his 20 points in the final five minutes as host LSU (186, 92 SEC) rallied to beat Missouri (1113, 38) in an allTigers matchup.
