Matthew Danziger

-

Matthew Danziger, 38, of San Anselmo, CA passed away unexpectedly while running near his home on April 18. He is survived by his soulmate, partner, and best friend, Kate, and their two children – the lights of his life – Izzy (9) and Aidan (6). He is also survived by his loving parents, Pedro and Janet Danziger; his treasured brothers and their beloved partners, David and Jessica, Michael, Andy and Melissa; and niece, Evelyn. Matt was the loving son in-law of Peter and Midge Stone; the cherished brother in-law of Kelly and Johann, and Elizabeth and Tommy; and adoring uncle to Olivia. He is survived by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and a community of colleagues and friends, all of whom were a part of Matt’s extended family.

A native of Hagerstown, MD, Matt was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy in PA, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Colby College in Maine, where he and his twin brother Andy played soccer. After graduating from college, Matt moved to Boston to be closer to his beloved Kate, who he had met at soccer camp when he was fourteen years old, before moving to Sun Valley for some solace and soul-searching in the mountains. Following their love for the ocean, Kate and Matt eventually made their way towards San Francisco, which is the place they’ve fondly called home since 2006.

Matt’s happiest days were spent with loved ones near the ocean or in the mountains, whether it was skiing on the slopes of Tahoe, surfing in the waves off Wellfleet, or sailing in waters of San Francisco Bay. At work, his capacity for human connection elevated the nature of investor relations and brought joy to his colleagues at LinkedIn and Pure Storage. At home, his love for simple pleasures – be it making pancakes for Aidan and Izzy on Sunday mornings, or cooking his famous paella for family and friends, or dancing with his beautiful wife in the middle of their kitchen – made every moment with Matt a beautiful adventure.

Matt’s kind and generous spirit made everything around him, and everyone who came into contact with him, better. We will miss him forever.

His family and friends will gather at a later date to memorialize his life, legacy and spirit. In place of flowers, and for those who are able, an educational fund has been established for Izzy and Aidan. www. gofundme.com/kate-andkids-memorial-fund-formatthew-danziger.
