BroadwaySF done until 2021
BroadwaySF, which produces Broadway tours at the Golden Gate and Orpheum theaters, is postponing all its shows until 2021.
The rescheduling, announced Wednesday, May 27, follows an earlier postponement last month when the producer had hoped to reopen as early as October.
Now, the first show in its next season — which BroadwaySF is still calling 202021 — will be “Hadestown” (Feb. 228), followed by “The Cher Show” (April 27May 23), “Oklahoma!” (June 29July 25), “Moulin Rouge! The Musical” (July 7Oct. 10), “To Kill a Mockingbird” (Aug. 24Sept. 19), “The Prom” (Sept. 21Oct. 17) and “Ain’t Too Proud” (Oct. 12Nov. 7).
The previously scheduled “The Band’s Visit,” “Mean Girls” and “My Fair Lady” are not on the lineup, but Chief Marketing Officer Scott Kane told The Chronicle that the company still hopes to produce them in 2021, with more details “in the coming weeks.”
The news follows California Shakespeare Theater’s announcement canceling its 2020 season, as well as TheatreWorks’ postponement of the start of its next season from July to October.
BroadwaySF continues to ask audience members with tickets to these postponed shows to wait until it issues new performance dates. “At that time, if your rescheduled date is inconvenient, you may request an exchange or a refund,” the company said in a statement. “Please understand that we are working with a greatly reduced staff and we appreciate your patience.”
Subscriptions continue to be on sale, starting at $240. For more information, visit www. broadwaysf.com.
